Get out and about this Spring half term and visit the beautiful gardens and fascinating science centre at Birr Castle Demesne. We have Free Scavenger Hunts for families which are fun & educational for everyone. Bring along a picnic and enjoy our Family Picnic & Play area.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Normal adult admission applies.

The Courtyard Cafe re-opens for the 2012 season
The Café is located at the entrance to Birr Castle Demesne in the restored stable block of the castle. In a tranquil courtyard setting away from traffic, the Café offers a peaceful back drop to enjoy a light lunch in an enclosed area safe for small children. The atmosphere is relaxing and visitors are guaranteed a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Open 7 days a week from 9.30am to 5.30pm.
Please note that the Courtyard Cafe is located at our visitor entrance and a ticket to the gardens and science centre is not required to enjoy this facility.

Saturday 7 April:
Easter Festival
Join us for Easter at Birr Castle Demesne when families can take part in our Easter Egg Hunt as well as enjoying our Easter market featuring local vendors of fine foods and crafts.
The Easter Egg Hunts take place in the gardens, therefore normal admission to the Demesne applies: Adults €9, Seniors & Students €7.50 and child tickets are €7. The Easter Egg Hunt is suitable for children aged 10 and under.
Children will follow a trail to find special characters, including Little Bo Peep, Alice and the Mad Hatter and a giant Chicken, who will give them hand painted wooden eggs and then swap them with the Easter Bunny for chocolate eggs. There will be face painting fun too!
The gardens at Birr come alive in spring with hundreds of flowering bulbs and a vast magnolia collection, so come and join us for a fun day out.
The hunts will take place between 11am and 5pm, booking is essential on 05791 20336.
Please note that the Plant, Food and Craft Market will take place in our courtyard and access to this area is free.

Adults are complimentary and child tickets are €7.

Halloween in the Haunted Castle & Gardens
Experience thrills and chills at Birr Castle Demesne’s annual Halloween Night. Children and their parents will Trick-or-Treat in the ghostly gardens, whilst encountering wicked witches, deadly ghouls and more. They will even knock at the Castle door to receive a special treat!
Booking is essential. Admission applies. This is an event suitable for families with children 10 years and younger.

Santa and his Elves invite you to visit them in Birr's Magical Castle
Tiptoe up the steps of the Castle, push open the door and meet the man himself as he relaxes beside a great log fire waiting to greet all the good little boys and girls.
Your own special Elf will guide you on your trip and your first stop will be to meet Mrs. Claus in the magical Winter Garden who will have a special chocolate treat for all the children, followed by your meeting with Santa Claus who will have a special gift for each child.
There will be a host of colourful characters and other surprises along the way to thrill and delight everyone! Don’t forget to post your letter to the North Pole in our special Post Box and enjoy face painting fun in the Courtyard Cafe.
